1. Who we are

SEAL ("we", "our", "us") is a vocabulary learning application available at sealthing.com, on iOS, Android, and as a Chrome browser extension. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the app.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — email address and display name when you sign in via Google or email/password through Firebase Authentication.
• Words and content — words you save ("seal"), context sentences, categories, and related notes you create within the app.
• Usage data — review history, streaks, notification interactions, and in-app activity used to power spaced repetition.
• Device information — device type, OS version, and app version for debugging and compatibility.
• Subscription data — purchase receipts and entitlement status managed by RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and improve the core features of SEAL (word saving, spaced repetition, notifications).
• To personalise your experience (language settings, review scheduling).
• To manage your subscription and verify Pro entitlements via RevenueCat.
• To generate AI-powered definitions and translations via Google Gemini (your word and context sentence are sent to the API).
• To send local push notifications for review reminders — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
• To diagnose and fix bugs.

4. Third-party services

SEAL relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Firestore database, and cloud storage.
• RevenueCat — Subscription management and in-app purchase validation.
• Google Gemini AI — AI definitions and translations (words and context are processed by this API).

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore. We apply industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and Firebase security rules that restrict access to your own data only.

No system is completely secure. If you discover a security issue, please report it to sealapp26@gmail.com.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Upon deletion, your words, profile, and all associated data are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

7. Children's privacy

SEAL is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.

9. Cookies and tracking

The SEAL mobile app does not use cookies. The Chrome extension uses browser local storage to maintain session state. Our website (sealthing.com) may use minimal analytics. We do not use cross-site tracking or sell data to advertisers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, via an in-app notice. Continued use of SEAL after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
